Non-stop

Op een poster uit 1979 houdt een boeddhistische non zich-haastig-spoedende-reizigers tegen. Geen gedring bij de metro!

It's a wordplay on the phrase "Kakekomi Kinshi" (駆け込み禁止), which is displayed all over train stations in Japan. "Kakekomi Kinshi" literally means "rushing (into the trains as the doors close) forbidden". However, since a Buddhist Ama is doing the stopping here, they replaced the character for "stop" (the "shi" in "kinshi") with the character for "Buddhist temple", which is pronoinced "ji" (very close to "shi" in Japanese), giving us "Kakekomi Kinji". A weak-ish joke at best.

Ofwel, volgens de post op livejournal: 'Nun shall pass'.
